It’s been a while since I’ve pulled together one of these Ways I’ve Worn articles.
They’re the ones where I focus in on one garment in particular and really test out the versatility of outfits built around that piece.
The last Ways I’ve Worn was back in Feb, the Work Trousers, you can read it below:

Would Wear To- For me, these have been a pretty steadfast and solid cornerstone of my daywear since they launched. That’s not to say they can’t be dressed up for night time, just that I haven’t got there yet (I’m a mum of two small kids so the opportunities for dressing to go out-out are on the sparse side.) What I do know though, is that this is a style I can easily be persuaded to pull on every. Damn. Day.
Here’s what they look like on the models…
Yes, I’ve been leaning on this style on the regular for the last 8 weeks or so, but it’s usually in the same vein- base layer, dungas, trainers, smattering of jewellery. I’m usually a firm subscriber to the “if it ain’t broke…” way of life (and wearing these beauties in this way certainly doesn’t disappoint) but such is their prominence in my day-to-day repertoire of outfits of late, that I felt I needed to push them a little harder.
A visual reference for you, of how I usually wear them…
…and here again in the Milkshake variety.
Regardless of what I will inevitably spout below, if you’re ever in doubt, your fave white tee and trainers with any of our dungas will serve you very well indeed on repeat.
(The addition of the Cardi in Candyfloss with our Milkshake is just the cherry on the top.)
I’ve opted to experiment with the Milkshake iteration of this style, and the reason is twofold:
1- This is the shade that I suspect most people will be scared of. I wanted to tackle it head on and demonstrate how versatile this piece is even in the “scariest” of colours. (Most of these ideas will translate really effortlessly to the other shades.)
2- I was tooooooo excited not to shoot our new Milkshake colourway- it is simply DIVINE!
Look 1 - Sandwich between an opposite tone.
As previously mentioned, my gut instinct with the dungas is to pair with a classic white tee and so I start this challenge by doing the opposite.
With the white tee and trainers, I’m essentially forming a sandwich (the dungas are my filling.) To start, I opt for black with Milkshake:
A slightly dressier, long-sleeved black top and heavy-duty black boots work perfectly to carry the dungas through the unpredictability of April.
For the other fabric shades available in this style, I suggest the following:
Why not sandwich the midnight between a soft, nutty brown top and brown suede boots/loafers? Thunder in between pink perhaps, or even varying shades of green or khaki? I’d suggest soft greys and charcoals to pair with the Tea Rose. Make a tonal dunga sandwich and crack on with your day.
This tee is old high street, the boots are Dr Martens.
Look 2 - flip that advice on its head!
