There’s something about October that calls for a clash! On a day that starts with rain, has a dalliance with crisp sunshine around lunchtime and closes out in a gale, what do you put on in the morning?
Let’s smash together Summer and Winter, clashing colours and textures and prints. Now is the month where anything and everything (all layered together) goes!
For October, I take the lightweight linens and the breezy double gauzes in the pastel shades and fresh checks of Summer, and I jumble them up with a melange of delicious knitwear and chunky sweats (I urge you to look through your wardrobe and pull out your most favourite, lightweight, gauzy pieces and your top cosy picks) to give them a new lease of life for the month ahead.
Moodboard 1- a jumble of everything.

I just want to hone in on Blanca Miro, one of the Queens of fusion-dressing, IMO.

My fave pieces from summer were…
Double Gauze pieces- specifically Flutter Blouse and Tulip Trousers.
Easy Dress - mine is in Bramble Check, but we have so many beautiful options available here. This checked option is great in Ready Made. As is this pink one.
Vests - I wore my Double Gauze vest all summer, but the Waffle and Sweats options have also come out to play.
Cocoon Shorts - in both our heavyweight linen and double gauze were worn on repeat.
My fave items for Winter…
Cocoon Trousers - I wear my pastel shades all year round, but black is an obvious choice for autumn/winter.
Sweatshirt - I adore this oversized shape, and wear it all winter long. I have grey marl, lilac and spearmint.
Cardi- in sweatshirting is very good, super cosy. I would also recommend scouring the second hand sites for our past season mohair version as worn below.
Points to bear in mind when fusing all these pieces together-
Show some skin somewhere - calves/decolette/a slither of tummy/ankles or feet. Doesn’t have to be much- a flash of collar bone when you’re wearing trousers, a bare ankle if you have a high neckline. Shorts and bare legs down below with many a layer up-top.
Don’t be afraid to experiment to make your hero pieces work for you all year round. Get creative- they’re only clothes. Some of the looks below are way more experimental than I might wear day to day, but by playing about with colour, print and texture, I get more of a feel for where my line is and how I might want to to slightly pull a look back into my current comfort zone.
Stretch your sandals out for as long as possible- it’s an easy way to show a bit of skin and keep the summer vibe alive a touch longer.
Light fluttery layers- the more the merrier. See the first look below for some inspo on layering similar colours all together.
Consider adding a scarf/wrap to any of the below looks as the weather cools further. It’s a cosy topper that’s easy to remove come a sunny, lunchtime spell.
My focus with this month’s inspo was to think eclectic, pair the unexpected and smash the two seasons together.
That was the inspo, here’s what I pulled together using what I have in my wardrobe.
