Stalf does Corduroy!
A quick fire round of the easiest ways I’ll be wearing my new Stalf cords...
It’s safe to say you love a Stalf pair of cords. The first wave of Jumbo Cords have sold out (they’ll be back! Sign up to be notified here) and I thought a quick article on ways I’d wear them for the current inclement weather would be helpful.
Here we have a quick fire round of the easiest ways I’ll be wearing my new Stalf cords this autumn…
We all know I’m a lover of an oversized shirt with my Stalf Cocoons. No changes here for the Jumbos. The cords are a beautifully soft, sumptuous cotton and pair beautifully with the crisp texture of linen or poplin. It’s the ultimate fuss-free, comfort clothing, but not at all scruffy.
Add in a chunky knit for when the wind starts whistling. This one was hand knitted by my Grandma and I will be wearing it for life. Were any of you quick enough to snap up one of our knitted jumpers from our pre-covid seasons? One of those would play veeeery nicely with the textures above, perhaps check second hand sites?
Never one to say no to a dash of pink, here I am predictable and true to form in a shirt and Stalf bottoms. Note how well our Thunder colourway pairs with pastels and clashing colours. This shade will hold its own with most colours, bold or soft.
Sweats are always a temptation when deciding what to wear in the morning.
If you need something simple (but great) to pull on with your fave hoodie or sweatshirt on a Saturday morning, look no further than the Jumbos.
… and in Tea Rose with one of our Sweatshirts. This one is two sizes up from my regular fit.
Our Cocoon Trousers pair very well with a peplum. The Jumbos are no different. Here I pulled on my Wrapper Jacket in Wisteria and tied it in a tight knot up front (I chose two sizes up in this one too, I’m a lover of an oversized fit- I know it’s not for everyone, your usual size would also work well here.)
The soft crumple of a pastel linen with the plush, velvety-ness of these cords- yes please.
The brogues I’m wearing here were bought second hand about ten years ago but are Dr Martens, again I’d suggest scouring the second hand sites- I’m sure something similar will be lurking somewhere, and half the fun is in the searching, eh?
Another peplum-y option below, this time with Tea Rose Jumbos. Did any of you buy one of our Cami Tops from a couple of Summers back? I usually wear mine dressed up, but I layered on this zip up vest from ME+EM and am delighted with the way all the elements play together. I’ve never been one for saving things for best and the Cami Top in the daytime feels exceptional. Like I’m wearing a little gem under all the usual daytime textures.
Do you see how the cords just play along with whatever vibe you’re going for? Clever little wardrobe asset.
… and just to show how I’d dress this variation up. Probs for a date night or a family meal. Cords, true to form, look just as good with heels and jewels as a hoodie and converse.
On that note, let’s push them a little further for dressing them up after dark, shall we?…
I paired them here with ONE OF MY MOST FAVOURITE ITEMS IN MY CLOSET? (Did that sentence make grammatical sense? Perhaps not, but I don’t often get this excited about garments that aren’t Stalf.) This beauty of a blouse is from Beverley Smart, a little shop that I stumbled upon in the small French town we stayed in this summer. It’s made from a vintage tablecloth that had been passed down through the generstions of a family. Beverley rescued it, dyed it black and made this gorgeously sheer, sexy (but not in an obvious way) dreamy blouse. It’s such a clever shape I can do nothing but shout about it.
I digress… can we take a moment for how well the cords hold their own paired with a sheer, sexy blouse, lacy body and heels?
With jeans this look would perhaps be predictable, with silky/satin bottoms, perhaps too much? The cords work so well to bring an effortless, low-key, just-threw-it-together-but-how-fabulous vibe. At this point I’m wondering what I wouldn’t pair the Jumbos with.
I came across this knitted number during a recent wardrobe clear-out (will write that saga up and share with you in the coming weeks) A little curve ball combo of unexpected proportions. Makes me think that the Jumbos would be great paired with a tunic-length or even a dress (??) I’ll report back on that one.
That concludes our speedy trip down another styling avenue.
I’ll be back with another later this week!
