A super quick surprise post for you all this Friday before the sun disappears completely! Here’s what I liked wearing this Summer and why…
Colours, layers, texture. I like the oversized Cardi (this one is Frosty Lilac, I sized up twice) and shirt with the short shorts (Jumpshorts in my ususal size, linked here.) My dressing process on a morning is usually dictated by colours (this one’s a Neapolitan dreaaam!) and comfort- nailed them both IMO.
Dressed up double gauze in frothy pastel seafoam, OH MY! I adore this set (watch this space for how I style it come Winter) you can buy it here. Love the pastels layered (what’s new!) and a touch of sparkle to dress it up for dinner, but tempered with a massive, oversized sweat round the shoulders.

I adore this skirt. Softly crumply linen, the prettiest floral shade of lilac, the most beautiful, washed texture, the fullness of this piece (we’re not stingy with the amount of fabric used here) vs. the nipped in elastic waist. Dress up, dress down, layer for winter, wear over bikini on the beach. It goes with trainers, platforms, sandals, pumps. Sweatshirts, blouses, oversized shirts, your oldest tee, a super-swanky, going out top. It’s my ultimate wardrobe chameleon. I went Wisteria (you know why) also gorgeous in black and checks. You can get it here.

This was for a festival. I invite you to follow along as I dismantle my layering process. Starting with floral shorts (old, but by this brand, they currently have these available.) I added the Vest in Double Gauze. I’ve already waxed lyrical about the beauty of this gem. So simple. So understated- blink and you’d miss it on the rail. BUT! I have worn this top so much since it became mine at the start of the summer. The cut is spot on (I took my usual size and it’s gently oversized without swamping me) the fabric is super soft and somehow cosy yes lightweight. I’m going to tell you about the texture because it’s an obsession of mine- sumptuous, yet feather light and with a beautifully soft, grainy surface. Add in the massive sweat again (another of my heroes!) Guess what, it’s lilac! Ha. I sized up twice on this one and it’s a hug and a half when worn. Topped with a truly scrumptious floral number from Dilli Grey.
A lesson in dressing up the Wide Trousers. These are my absolute go-to for evening. When I think about why I always reach for this style and colour, it’s the fact that the Wides are a perfect foil for something more alluring up top. They nip you in at the waist (or can sit wherever you feel most confident, I go just above the navel as I don’t really have aforementioned waist to speak of) and then flow out and skim in the most comfortable way. They’re like a solidly reliable base with which you can be as playful as you feel. I like to pair them with sheer/cropped/low cut/backless tops to flash some skin up top. Beaten up trainers for balance, you know.

What is it about the crisp simplicity of white and grey? Summer in a snapshot. I suggest getting something grey (obviously, I recommend our super plush and beautiful grey marl sweats) pair with the crispest white garment you can find- think boxfresh trainers, our minimal-to-the-max vest in linen or double gauze, or a blouse/shirt you surely already own- and enjoy the satisfying simplicity of a classic combination.
No Summer round-up would be complete without my trusty, reliable combo- white vest, Cocoon Jumpsuit, linen shirt. Chuck some gold jewellery and comfy sandals at the situation and you’re grand. I have gone into the anatomy of building an outfit around the Cocoon Jumpsuit in detail here.
Back next week with more Stalf-y styling inspo and thoughts,
