This week I subscribed to Pandora Sykes’ Substack (it’s this one by the way, and I’m really enjoying so far.) This article, in particular, really got me thinking. It’s the one where Pandora explains how she has time to read so much. To clarify how, she offers up seven “transparencies”- seven bullet-pointed facets of her life- daily choices she makes in order to prioritise and make time for reading every day. Fascinating! To get a little glimpse into someone else’s daily decision making process, and to read an acknowledgement that we cannot (and should not strive to) do it all. Someone here is actually writing about the comfort they find in letting some things go in order to make space for others.

You may well have read that the shop at our Pink Studio closed its doors earlier this month. Over the last month or so since I made the announcement publicly, I’ve had the same conversation on repeat with customers, friends, staff members, offering them an insight into why I made the decision I did. It links back to the topic of last week’s Regular Reflection, the idea that it’s ok as a business owner to want just enough and not always more. There was a point, maybe 5 months or so ago, where I realised the shop was not the best iteration of itself. A point where I realised location, timing, business aims had combined and taken me a little off the optimum trajectory, or were perhaps slightly misaligned with the goals I have for my business.

The Pink Studio, as it was.
